In 2002
The Ural Nonproliferation Group (UNG) started education and research in the areas of nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament in cooperation with the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (Monterey, the USA) and the PIR Center (Russia).
It is housed in the Resource Center created within the scope of the TEMPUS project "Human Security (environment, quality of food, public health, and society) on territories contaminated by radioactive agents".

Our mission is to disseminate impartial nuclear policy analysis and promote awareness of nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament by training the next generation of IR specialists proficient in nuclear weapons-related issues. ​
